The Inquisition, formally called the Intelligence Inquiry Initiative or III, is a secret organisation that exists outside the standard administrative hierarchy of the SYND. The Inquisition acts as the secret task force of the Goddess Cult, hunting down any and all of the myriad threats to the stability of the holy goddess's realm, from the uncontrolled reality distortion caused by the concentration of ZP115, Heretics, negative mutations and rebels, counter intelligence skirmishes from the rest of the world. The III infamous sigil was derived from the goddess herself.
It was the Council of Prosperity that first created the secret organisation that would later become the varied division of the Inquisition at when SYND was established. The wish of her goddess had ordered the III to find a group of men and women of an "inquisitive nature" to search out the enemies from whether they lay within or without. The Inquisition is divided into three major divisions, they are "Witch Cult", "A027 Division" and "Angels" combined with many other minor ones, each dedicated to confronting a very specific threat to the continued survival of the Goddess Cult. The Inquisitors of Witch Cult seek to provide aid to other military regiments and acts as an overwatch protocol for the holy goddess. and counter other threats from beyond the physical world wherever they assault on goddess realm. The A027 Division and army of machined heavy infantry & combat vehicles, defend the goddess realm from the myriad alien or demonic threats that lie outside its borders. The Angels of III and its Chamber assassins in white, the pious battle-sisters of the Ivera Sororitas Militant, seek to combat all of the very Human threats to the goddess that lie within its own organisations or on its own worlds.
It should come as no surprise that the Goddess Inquisition's past is shrouded in secrecy. Even the Inquisitors themselves have only the haziest of understandings as to how their division was founded, and must rely on hundreds of disparate and contradictory legends for guidance. Indeed, there is a minor branch of the Goddess Inquisition itself -- the Eye of Goddess -- dedicated to unravelling myths, exaggerations and lies. This is a difficult task, raised to impossibility due to the opposing work of the Witch Cult, who focus their own efforts into deliberately obscuring the past, lest the enemies of the goddess cult discover some advantage through knowledge of the Inquisition's beginnings. However, is that the Goddess Inquisition is widely believed to have been formed by Ivera Larsson the sigil delivered by the Goddess herself during the revolution transformation era.
As the story goes, Ivera Larsson, the Regent of Goddess Eye, was charged by the Goddess Militant immediately after news had reached over the council of prosperit during the massacre of the Elf Union, to gather a group of dedicated Goddess servants whose loyalty, courage, and strength of mind was unquestioned. Ivera initially chose 12 persons of "an inquisitive nature," who would respectively become the initial core of the Witch Cult and the conclaves of the Goddess Inquisition. They were presented by Ivera to the Council at the Goddess Eye after being brought secretly through enemy lines during the European War. These were individuals of unblemished loyalty, determination and strength of mind, who would serve the Goddess Cult in the years to come. Beyond that one story, the legends diverge, ascribing numerous identities to each of the twelve -- some ludicrous, many credible and all utterly unprovable. Yet the foundations of the Inquisition were created from the four mortal lords apart from House Larsson's administrators of the Goddess Cult chosen by Malcador, while the A027, the first and most effective of the Goddess Inquisition's private army, were formed from 5 of the Purple Bounty Divisions. The foundation of the Goddess Inquisition remains shrouded in mystery and is still a much-debated subject amongst Goddess Cult.
